The Deputy QA Manager will be responsible for assisting the Quality Assurance Manager with ensuring the quality of the mass spectrometry and ELISA work performed in a large scale, high-throughput, A2LA-accredited and RMTC-accredited analytical laboratory.

Job Description

The Deputy QA Manager will be responsible for assisting the Quality Assurance Manager with ensuring the quality of the mass spectrometry and ELISA work performed in a large scale, high-throughput, A2LA-accredited and RMTC-accredited analytical laboratory. Candidates at the C level will be expected to complete their duties independently. Candidates at the B level will be provided additional training and oversight in the first two years until they are able to complete their duties independently.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

Duties are to assist in serving as the quality subject matter expert to oversee, interpret, and advise on accreditation quality standards, regulations, and quality-related programs. Ensure that the accredited management system processes are established, implemented, and maintained, including the generation of records for agreement with ISO 17025 (nonconforming work, corrective actions, internal audits, management reviews). Oversee, schedule, conduct and summarize internal quality assurance audits, participate in external assessments to multiple accreditation standards including ISO 17025 and ILAC G7. Assist in overseeing the organization's document management program by editing, issuing, and enforcing QA System Controlled Documents and Standard Operating Procedures. Additional duties include review of forensic test results and laboratory measurements for completion and accuracy, training interns and new employees on QA procedures and maintaining the proficiency and internal blind sample programs.

QUALIFICATIONS

The Penn Vet Equine Pharmacology Laboratory is seeking to employ a Manager to serve as a Deputy Quality Assurance Manager under the Quality Assurance Manager. Qualified individuals will have a BS preferably in biology, chemistry or a related field, and some experience with liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry and/or enzyme linked immunosorbant assay. An MS and 3 to 5 years experience is preferred. Strict attention to detail and the ability to work independently and collaborate well with others is required.

Candidates at the C level will be expected to complete their duties independently. Candidates at the B level will be provided additional training and oversight in the first two years until they are able to complete their duties independently.
