Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Key Responsabilities
Education responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Maintaining intellectual integrity and striving for academic excellence in his/her teaching.

2. Providing students, at the beginning of each block, with a syllabus, indicating materials to be covered, related assignments, and methods of evaluation.

3. Promoting adequate standards of linguistic expression in writing and in speech.

4. Maintaining up-to-date records of the grades of each student in his/her blocks.

5. Serving as a block facilitator as assigned.

6. (In cases where the faculty member teaches in a block that is facilitated by another faculty member): Collaborating with the block facilitator in planning the block, teaching, and conducting student evaluation and block evaluation.

7. Providing lectures/instruction to Pharm.D. students.

8. Contributing to the curricular content in collaboration with other faculty members.

9. Evaluating student performance using both traditional methods (e.g., written tests) and non-traditional methods (e.g., student portfolios).

10. Providing instruction in other WesternU programs.

11. Documenting outcomes and appropriateness of all teaching/research activities on an ongoing basis.

12. Developing elective courses in his/her areas of expertise.


Key Responsabilities
Scholarship responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Developing and implementing an extramurally funded research program, individually or in collaboration with other researchers.

2. Contributing to the body of knowledge in his/her area of expertise. This can be achieved by preparing publications for refereed/peer-reviewed journals.

3. Conduct research on new methods of teaching.


Key Responsabilities
College and University responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Serving on university and college committees.

2. Developing an annual portfolio of accomplishments in the areas of service, education, scholarship and professional development.

3. Participating in any special projects or activities as assigned.

4. Developing and maintaining good working relationships with all staff, faculty, and students in the College of Pharmacy and other colleges and divisions of the University.

5. Conducting oneself in a positive and professional manner; representing the college and the university appropriately.

6. Serving as faculty advisor for student professional organizations, clubs and societies.

7. Serving on evaluation panels or teams, such as grant or protocol review panels, site visit teams, educational panels, and academic program evaluation teams.

8. Serving as an advisor to pharmacy students.

9. Participating in college and university functions and student-sponsored programs.

10. Serving as an advisor/mentor to less-experienced faculty (e.g., those at the assistant professor level), when requested.

Professional Development responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Participating actively in appropriate professional and scientific organizations.

2. Demonstrating on-going skill development in the area of scholarship and developing a national presence in his/her area of expertise.

3. Participating actively in the development and implementation of entrepreneurial activities within the college and university.

4. Working to become a master teacher.


Key Responsabilities
Clinical practice site responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

1. Developing and/or maintaining a clinical practice site conducive to clerkship rotations for Pharm.D. students.

2. Serving as primary preceptor for assigned Western University of Health Sciences Pharm.D. students on experiential rotation, which includes, but is not limited to providing orientation to the practice site, ensuring student engagement with patient care activities suitable for the site/rotation, providing experiential clinical and other student teaching relevant to the rotation, and evaluation of the student per the college standard procedures.

3. Developing and maintaining good working relationships with others at the clinical practice site.

4. Documenting interventions and patient care interactions as required by the clinical practice site standards.
